Students arrived at Perth airport at 6 am. We had breakfast in the Alliance lounge with other Deadly Sista Girlz participants, boarding our flight at 7 am. We flew for one and a half hours to Mining Area C. When we arrived we were put into our groups for the day. We then travelled to the campsite. The girls participated in a range of activities which included listening to guest speakers, using mining equipment, a tour of the facilities, team bonding, soil sampling and visiting the mine pit.
Both Latoya and Tiffany said, “The excursion was a great experience”.

The Prime Minister Scott Morrison visited Perth recently and as a part of his itinerary requested a session with Clontarf Academy students. The PM, who is a long-time supporter of the Foundation, was joined by the Member for Swan the Hon Steve Irons for a morning training session and barbecue breakfast. Eight boys from Yule Brook answered the call along with boys from across the metropolitan area and Northam.

The Clontarf Foundation exists to improve the education, discipline, self-esteem, life skills and employment prospects of young Aboriginal men and by doing so equip them to participate more meaningfully in society. The five pillars that underpin the Clontarf mission statement are Education, Employment, Leadership, Well-being and Sport. Every activity or event organised by staff at The Yule Brook Clontarf Academy is done so with this in mind. It’s been an exciting and whirlwind start to 2018. As it currently stands we have 36 boys in our programme. This number has the potential to increase as we progress through the school year.

The YBC Girls football team started their 2017 Dockers Cup campaign against Clontarf Aboriginal College at YBC on Tuesday, 8 May. The competition is open for students in Years 7-12 and YBC were assisted by five Year 11 Sevenoaks students (all former YBC students) committed to playing games this term.
