Things have been busy down at Clontarf and within the blink of an eye it’s week 8 already. Our regular weekly events consist of morning trainings (Tuesday and Thursday), after school basketball (Wednesday), toasted sandwich Thursday and Good Bunch Lunch (Friday).   Since the last edition of the school newsletter some of our prominent events and activities we have undertaken include:

‘The Clontarf Foundation exists to improve the education, discipline, self-esteem, life skills and employment prospects of young Aboriginal men and by doing so, equip them to participate more meaningfully in society. The six pillars that underpin the Clontarf mission statement are education, employment, leadership, well-being, partners/ community and sport.

The YBC Girls football team started their 2017 Dockers Cup campaign against Clontarf Aboriginal College at YBC on Tuesday, 8 May. The competition is open for students in Years 7-12 and YBC were assisted by five Year 11 Sevenoaks students (all former YBC students) committed to playing games this term.

The Yule Brook College girl's football team has commenced training in preparation for school football competitions in Terms 2 and 3. Training sessions are held on Tuesday and Friday mornings and Wednesday after school. The highest training attendance is 19 girls and all girls are welcome to participate or try out.

I would like to encourage all parents to attend the drug and alcohol information session at Yule Brook College that the School Drug Education and Road Aware are conducting. Research tells us that the adolescent brain is very susceptible to alcohol and so the recommendation is that no one under the age of 18 should take any alcohol at all. Please come along and get up to date information and strategies to discuss this topic with your adolescent.
