We are proud to announce that Yule Brook College is a finalist in the WA Education Awards for Aboriginal Education and Joshua Inwood is a finalist in the School Services Staff member of the Year.

We’d like to share some stories of our community and finalists:

Celebrating Aboriginal culture and heritage at our NAIDOC assembly July 11th with the re-signing of our Aboriginal school community agreement now in it's 18th year, and the debut dance performance by the Taaliny Dance Group (taaliny is the Noongar name for the blue orchid).

A big night of YBC students 'leaving to learn' all over Perth on the 19thof June. Students from Ms Wilsons drama class had a night at the theatre to see "The Torrents", a newspaper comedy drama set in the 1890s Australian goldfields with tickets kindly supplied by Perth Airport.

Congratulations to Yule Brook United who had their first win 4-2 win against Cecil Andrews, made more exciting by the fact that the team exists because Amal and Sajid created it as an Advisory project. It certainly meets the Big Picture 5As for projects - Authenticity, Active learning, Adult mentors, Academic rigour, Assessment!

A note from the community health nurse

I have had the pleasure of working within Yule Brook College for almost a year and have met so many wonderful staff and students. Just a little reminder that we never have to go through things by ourselves, we all need someone to lean on sometimes especially with the holiday period fast approaching us. Feel free to stop by any time say hello; I love to have a chat.
